What a revoltin' development THIS is!
I like to describe THE LIFE OF RILEY as "radio's comfort food." It's nothing fancy, but there's nothing more satisfying then spending a half-hour with William Bendix who, as Chester A. Riley, was the yardstick for all the doltish dads that populated the history of situation comedy. The star of RILEY, of course, was actor John Brown; his portrayal of somber undertaker Digby "Digger" O'Dell made the mortician one of radio's most memorable characters...not to mention adding a necessary touch of macabre humor to add perfect seasoning to the goulash that is LIFE OF RILEY. You can't go wrong with any of Radio Spirits' many RILEY compendiums (but this set features one of radio's funniest half-hours with a guest star in Red Skelton).
