"At the gallop…full!"
Radio's Fort Laramie goes above and beyond the call of duty in its attention to authenticity and realism, depicting the harsh existence of soldiers on a U.S. Army post in the 1880's.
As Lee Quince, "Captain of Cavalry," Raymond Burr is a stern-but-sympathetic officer. Vic Perrin co-stars as Sergeant Ken Gorce, with Jack Moyles as Major Daggett, and Harry Bartell as Lieutenant Richard Siberts.

Well-written and accurate picture of life on the frontier
To those who know Raymond Burr as the intense, self-assured Perry Mason on the fire-breathing detective Robert Ironside, Fort Laramie will be a revelation. Burr's character, Captain Lee Quince, is a career soldier in a raw, mostly unsettled frontier. He is unshakably tough but capable of deep compassion. He fights Indians when necessary, but prefers to know them and deal with them fairly. There have been many inaccurate films about the frontier Army, mostly dealing with cavalry charges and Indian massacres, but there is little of that in Fort Laramie or Burr's portrayal. Many of the stories concern the common soldiers under Quince's command and his dealings with Native Americans. He is the image of a man who is tough but fair, compassionate but not soft. He can dress down a callow lieutenant with one breath, then encourage him in the next. Although it only lasted one season (Burr's new job as Perry Mason killed the series), Fort Laramie ranks along with Gunsmoke as perhaps the best radio western of all time.

Wasn’t aware Burr had his own program. I liked it.
Good Show!
